Sr Prof. Barnabas H K Chung is a veteran professional building surveyor with over 40 years of experience with expertise in building control.  He was conferred the Distinguished Building Surveyor by the Hong Kong Institution of Surveyors in 1998.

 

He has had 30 years sojourn in the civil service administering all aspects of building control.  After his retirement from the civil service, he continues to act as advisors to several consultancy studies commissioned by the Buildings Department.  He has also been appointed by the Government to sit on Appeal Tribunals and Appeal Boards.  He also acts as expert witness in related litigations.

 

Professor Chung has over 30 years’ involvement with the tertiary academia, notably in the education and training of building and property professionals.  He has been a Visiting Professor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as well as an Honorary Professor of the University of Hong Kong.

 

His professional endeavours have extended to Mainland China and also internationally.  He had been a World Governor of the World Organization of Building Officials (WOBO) for many years and was conferred the International Award in 1996.  Currently he is Honorary Advisor to the Guangdong Provincial Association of Construction Supervision (廣東省建設監理協會名譽顧問).
